The Obstruction Identification Surfaces toolset contains tools that create obstruction identification surfaces based on various specifications.

ToolDescription

Create Curved Approach

Creates curved approach obstacle identification surfaces (OIS) based on the supported specifications in ArcGIS Aviation. These curved approach surfaces are based on an input flight path and the information in the selected specification, for example, ICAO Annex 15, FAA 18B and classification. This tool creates surfaces in existing polygon or multipatch features.

FAA 13

Creates obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) based on the FAA Advisory Circular AC 150/5300-13B specification.

FAA 13 Runway Protection Surfaces

Generates runway protection surfaces based on the FAA Advisory Circular AC 150/5300-13B specification.

FAA 18B

Creates obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) based on the FAA Advisory Circular 150/5300-18B specification. These OIS assist in the identification of possible hazards to air navigation and critical approach and departure obstructions within the vicinity of the airport and are used to support planning and design activities. The type, function, and dimension of a surface differ by its runway classification. This tool creates surfaces as polygon or multipatch features.

FAA FAR 77

Creates obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) based on the FAA Part 77 specification. This regulation establishes standards and notification requirements for objects affecting navigable airspace. The type, function, and dimension of a surface differ by its runway classification. This tool creates surfaces as a polygon or multipatch features.

Generate OIS Intersection

Creates the most restrictive (lowest) surfaces within the extent of all collective surfaces. Obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) determine objects that are vertical obstructions. An object is considered a vertical obstruction if it penetrates the OIS surface. Surfaces are used to support planning and design activities.

ICAO Annex 14

Creates obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) based on ICAO Annex 14 specifications. These surfaces define the airspace around aerodromes to be free of obstacles so flight operations can be performed safely. This tool creates surfaces as a polygon or multipatch features.

ICAO Annex 15

Creates obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) based on the ICAO Annex 15 specification (Areas 2a, 2b, and 2c). These surfaces assist in determining the height restriction or removal of obstacles that pose a hazard to air navigation in and around an aerodrome. This tool creates surfaces as a polygon or multipatch features.

ICAO Annex 4 Surfaces

Creates obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) based on the ICAO Annex 4 specifications for either a Take-Off Flight Path Area or a Precision Approach Terrain Area.

Light Signal Clearance Surface

Creates a Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) Obstacle Clearance Surface (OCS) based on the FAA Engineering Brief (EB) 95.

PAPI Obstacle Clearance Surface

A PAPI OCS determines which objects are vertical obstructions. An object is considered a vertical obstruction if it penetrates the PAPI OCS. Surfaces are used to support planning and design activities.

Unified Facilities Criteria

Creates obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) based on the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) 3-260-01 that is prescribed by MIL-STD 3007. These surfaces provide planning, design, construction, sustainment, restoration, and modernization criteria for the United States Department of Defense. Surfaces are created as polygon or multipatch features.
