Regenerate the BisBDI

If the Bathymetric Dataset Index (BisBDI) of the Bathymetric Information System (BIS) becomes corrupted or otherwise compromised, and mosaic dataset tools are unable to remedy the issues, you can delete the existing BisBDI and regenerate it. For example, the BisBDI could be corrupted due to geodatabase migration or other underlying changes.

注:

None of the datasets are deleted when the BisBDI is deleted, only the mosaic dataset index that references them in the BIS.

To regenerate the BisBDI, you must first delete the existing mosaic dataset index; then you can run the Analyze BIS tool with the Regenerate BisBDI option checked.

Delete the mosaic dataset

To delete the mosaic dataset, complete the following steps:

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Open a new project.
    注:

It is recommended that a blank project is used to run the Delete Mosaic Dataset tool for best results. Layers in the map can interfere with the performance and results of running this tool.

  3. On the Analysis tab, in the Geoprocessing group, click Tools 工具.

    The Geoprocessing pane appears.

  4. On the Toolboxes tab of the Geoprocessing pane, expand the Data Management toolbox and click Raster > Mosaic Dataset > Delete Mosaic Dataset.
    注:

If the BIS is in an enterprise geodatabase, you must use a data owner connection to run this tool.

  5. For the Mosaic Dataset parameter, click Browse and browse to the location of the BisBDI in the BIS.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Use the default options for the remaining parameters.
  8. Click Run.

The BisBDI and any associated overviews and item cache are deleted from the BIS. You can now run the Analyze BIS tool to regenerate the BisBDI from raster data in the BIS.

Regenerate the BisBDI mosaic dataset

Once you have deleted the BisBDI, you can recreate it with the Analyze BIS tool. The Regenerate BisBDI operation uses the item source and the proxy raster path values from the BisCatalog to reassemble the BisBDI. The rasters and proxy rasters must exist at the pathways recorded in the BisCatalog when the tool is run; otherwise the datasets with broken paths will be skipped when creating the new BisBDI.

To regenerate the BisBDI in the BIS, complete the following steps:

  1. Ensure that you have completed the steps above to delete the mosaic dataset.
  2. In the Geoprocessing pane, click Back 后退 to return to the Toolboxes list.
  3. Click the Toolboxes tab and find the Bathymetry toolbox.
  4. Expand the Bathymetry toolbox and click BIS Management > Analyze BIS.
  5. For the BIS parameter, click Browse and choose the file or enterprise geodatabase containing the BIS.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Under the Repair Operations parameter, check the Regenerate BisBDI check box.
  8. Optionally, check the Update Overviews check box to update overviews for the BisBDI.
    注:

The checks and operations of the Analyze BIS tool are run in order. It is recommended that you do not run other checks or repairs when regenerating the BisBDI, except for Update Overviews.

  9. Click Run.
    注:

If the BIS is in an enterprise geodatabase, you must use a data owner connection to run this tool.

If the BIS is in an SDE database, the database administrator must refresh database connection roles after the BisBDI is regenerated. This will allow the database users to view the schema changes made to the BIS.

  10. Close the project.

The BisBDI has been regenerated and includes new overviews when the Update Overviews check box is checked. You can open a new or existing project that uses the referenced BIS and add the BisBDI to the map to view mosaic data.
