The Import Trace Configurations tool provides the ability to import trace configurations to a utility network from a .json file for sharing of trace configurations across multiple utility networks.
Requirements
The Input Utility Network must be version 5 or later.
When working with an enterprise geodatabase, the following apply:
- The Input Utility Network parameter value must be from a utility network service.
The Input Utility Network can be from a database connection established as the database utility network owner when connected as the portal utility network owner or a portal account with the Administrator role.
Follow these steps to import trace configurations from a .json file to a utility network:
- On the Analysis tab, in the Geoprocessing group, click Tools to open the Geoprocessing pane.
- In the Geoprocessing pane, search for and select Import Trace Configurations.
The tool can be found in the Trace Configuration toolset of the Utility Network toolbox.
- For Input Utility Network, specify a utility network.
- For Input File (.json), specify the name and location of the .json file containing the trace configurations.
- Click Run.
The trace configurations are imported to the Input Utility Network.
Note:
The creator value in the .json file is honored during import. Since the portal utility network owner is the only user who can view and work with all trace configurations in a utility network, it is important to update the creator value as necessary to ensure the proper access to the imported trace configurations in an enterprise geodatabase.
