Application productivity options for editing include settings to streamline a workflow, for example, running the Move tool automatically after pasting a feature from the clipboard, double-click to finish a sketch, editing sketch geometry, and other settings. These options are available on the Options dialog box on the Editing side tab.
Run the Move tool after pasting features
To run the Move tool automatically after pasting features from the clipboard, or to turn this option off, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- Check the Activate Move tool after all paste operations check box.
To turn this option off, uncheck this setting.
- Click OK.
Your settings are saved and the dialog box closes.
Show symbology in a sketch
To show feature symbology in unfinished sketch geometry, or to turn this option off, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- Check the Show feature symbology in the sketch check box.
To turn this option off and display layer symbology after clicking Finish , uncheck this setting.
- Click OK.
Your settings are saved and the dialog box closes.
Double-click to finish a sketch
To double-click and run the Finish command automatically while sketching a feature, or to turn off this option, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- Check the Enable double-click as a shortcut for the Finish button check box.
To turn off this option, uncheck this setting.
- Click OK.

Modify sketch geometry
The Vertex Editing setting appears on the vertex editing toolbar. When it is enabled, you can edit unfinished vertices and segments while you sketch feature geometry.
To keep this setting enabled by default, or to turn off this option, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- Check the Enable vertex editing while sketching check box.
To turn off this option, uncheck this setting.
- Click OK.

Confirm to delete data
To display a dialog box and click Yes or No each time a feature is deleted, or to turn off this option, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- Check the Show dialog to confirm deleting data check box.
To turn off this dialog box, uncheck this setting.
- Click OK.

Press the Esc key to cancel the active tool in stereo maps
To press the Esc key to cancel the active tool in stereo maps, or to turn off this option, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- Check the Allow ESC to cancel the active tool in Stereo maps check box.
To turn off this option, uncheck this setting.
- Click OK.

Touch screen input
To enable touch screen input for a touch-enabled device, or to turn off this option, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- Check the Touch screen input for new features check box.
To turn off touch screen input, uncheck this setting.
- Click OK.

Set the default tool for editing
To set the default tool that runs when an active editing tool is deactivated, complete the following steps:
- On the ribbon Edit tab, click the Options dialog box launcher in the Manage Edits group.
The Options dialog box appears.
- Click the Editing side tab, expand General and scroll to the Productivity section.
- For the Default tool when deactivating editing tools parameter, choose one of the following settings:
- Explore—Runs the Explore tool.
- Select—Runs the Select tool.
- Click OK.
