An overview of the Indoor Positioning toolbox

The Indoor Positioning toolbox contains tools to create an ArcGIS IPS Information Model, which enables indoor surveys with the ArcGIS IPS Setup app, processing of survey data, and indoor positioning. The toolbox also includes the Quality Assessment toolset that contains tools to evaluate the performance of an ArcGIS IPS deployment.

ToolDescription

Create IPS Data Model

Creates an IPS Data Model containing the following components:

  • IPS Positioning Datasets
  • IPS Positioning Signals
  • IPS Positioning Points
  • IPS Recordings
  • IPS Beacons

Generate Indoor Positioning Dataset

Generates an Indoor Positioning Dataset for an existing ArcGIS IPS installation. You can use a survey-based or survey-less method to generate the dataset.

Share Indoor Positioning Data Service

Publishes an Indoor Positioning Data Service to ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online. An Indoor Positioning Data Service contains the data required for enabling indoor positioning. It is used by the IndoorsLocationDataSource objects of the ArcGIS Maps SDKs to compute an estimated position.

ToolsetDescription

Classic

The Classic toolset provides access to tools that use original methods to create and populate the ArcGIS IPS Information Model. Starting from ArcGIS Pro 3.3, the information model is updated to support ArcGIS Pro native data formats. While the tools in the Classic toolset maintain support for existing ArcGIS IPS deployments with the old data model, using the latest tools allows you to use enhanced capabilities and new features. Use the latest tools in the Indoor Positioning toolbox for an optimized experience.

Quality Assessment

The ArcGIS IPS Quality Assessment toolset contains tools that assess the performance of an ArcGIS IPS deployment.
