A simulation can be run to demonstrate a catastrophic event, such as a dam overflowing or a 100-year flood event. In such instances, it can be helpful to run different mitigation scenarios. You can duplicate a simulation from a single moment. This creates a new simulation layer that starts at the paused moment in time and runs for the remaining duration.
To duplicate a simulation, perform these steps:
- Run a simulation.
- Pause the simulation where the scenarios should diverge.
- Right-click the simulation layer in the Contents pane and click Duplicate From Here
.A new, uniquely named simulation including all elements is added to the Contents pane. A .tif file showing the current water depth is generated and also added to the scene. The .tif file is used as the starting water depth raster of the duplicate simulation, and elements that are time bound, such as water sources and water sinks, are truncated to their remaining intake volumes and duration.
A simulation can be duplicated multiple times to achieve different results.
