Available with ArcGIS Maritime license.
You can use the Association Manager tool to create feature associations between two or more existing features of related types. You must have write access to create or append feature associations.
Note:
Features and their associated records must be created before you can create an association.
Before creating features, user and agency identification must be defined in the EditingProperties table, and the compilation scale must be set on the Maritime S-100 tab.
For more information on types of associations, and what is allowed, refer to the S-100-based product specifications provided by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
To create feature associations, complete the following steps:
- Open or create a project in ArcGIS Pro.
- Connect to a maritime database containing S-100 data or create a maritime geodatabase that uses an S-100 schema and import S-100 data, if necessary.
- For any features that you want to associate, ensure that their respective feature classes are added to the map.
The Maritime S-100 tab appears.
- On the Maritime S-100 tab, set the compilation scale values.
Make sure the minimum compilation scale and the compilation scale range includes the compilation scale of the features you want to associate the information record with.
- On the Maritime S-100 tab, in the S-100 Editing group,
click Association Manager
.The Association Manager pane appears.

Before creating associations, ensure that the features you want to associate are visible in the map view.
- Select the features on the map that you want to associate with one another.
You can either select features on the map or identify features by extent and use the context menu options to select features.
- In the View Associations By section, choose Selection.
Tip:
To view all features in the extent, choose Extent. Check the Show Only Existing check box to view only features with existing associations.
- Click Refresh
to update the Association Manager pane. The list of features in the Association Manager pane is static. This allows you to continue to work with the features in the pane regardless of your current extent or selections on the map.
- Expand the S-100 feature node to view the individual features.
- Expand individual geodatabase feature nodes to build associations.

Tip:
Open the Attributes pane to view Maritime Attributes for the features you want to associate.
- With the previous selection active, click Associate Selected Features
next to Feature Associations.
The features are associated and a record is stored in the FeatureAssociations feature class.
Note:
If you try to associate a feature to another feature that it cannot be associated with, the following error message appears:

Refer to the S-100 Feature Catalogue used to create the database to determine valid feature bindings.
- Expand the association to review the associated features.
The features that are associated with the expanded feature are listed below it.

You can hover over an associated feature to verify the role of the association and the GUID of the associated feature.

- On the Maritime S-100 tab, in the Manage Edits group, click Save
.
The association is saved to the geodatabase in the active workspace.
