Add a roof to a multipatch or 3D object feature

The 3D roof construction tools add a roof to a selected multipatch or 3D object feature. The tools are available on the multipatch toolbar when a 3D multipatch or 3D object feature is edited with the Edit Vertices tool Edit Vertices.

When you add a roof to a multipatch or 3D object feature, consider the following:

  • The base of a roof can start on the selected feature or extrude to the active surface.
  • To remove a roof, explode the feature, and delete the faces comprising the roof using the Select tool Select and Delete command Delete on the Edit ribbon tab. Next, merge the remaining faces into a single multipatch or 3D object feature.
  • The multipatch toolbar also appears with the Create 3D Geometry tool that is available with editing templates for 3D source layers.
