Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.
Indoor positioning data can be generated using beacon data and the layout of the walls within an indoor environment. Contrary to the classic survey-based method of generating indoor positioning data, this method does not require conducting indoor surveys and is only available for Bluetooth-based ArcGIS IPS deployments.
The IPS Beacons feature class contains points that indicate the precise locations of where Bluetooth beacons are installed in an indoor space. To ensure optimal performance, the beacon data must represent the placement and configuration of the beacons in a facility as accurately as possible. To learn more about installing and maintaining an ArcGIS IPS network, refer to the recommendations outlined in the ArcGIS IPS Hardware Guide.
You can create wall features before or after the beacons are installed inside your facility.
After defining the extent of the walls in the facility and ensuring the accuracy of beacon data, you can generate a survey-less Indoor Positioning Dataset.
