Get started with a StreetMap Premium mobile map package

ArcGIS StreetMap Premium is available in mobile map package format (.mmpk). For licensed users, the .mmpk format may be downloaded from My Esri and imported into ArcGIS Pro, or downloaded for use in ArcGIS Navigator or ArcGIS Runtime. The mobile map package is available in either GCS_WGS_1984 uncompressed or WGS84 Web Mercator (Auxiliary Sphere) compressed formats.

Note:

The GCS_WGS_1984 uncompressed format is optimized for routing in ArcGIS Pro and routing services in ArcGIS Enterprise. The network dataset is uncompressed for users who require more performant network analysis; the trade-off is a larger dataset due to the data not being compressed. ArcGIS Navigator and ArcGIS Runtime users should continue to use the WGS84 Web Mercator (Auxiliary Sphere) compressed format.

Before you download and use one of these mobile map packages, you must enable a StreetMap Premium extension. You can review license information in ArcGIS Pro to verify that a StreetMap Premium extension is enabled. Once the .mmpk format is available in ArcGIS Pro, you can use the mapping, geocoding, and routing functionality.

Note:

Only the mobile map package in WGS84 Web Mercator (Auxiliary Sphere) compressed format is available from ArcGIS Online. The GCS_WGS_1984 mobile map package is only available for download through your My Esri account due to the uncompressed size of the .mmpk file.

Enable a StreetMap Premium extension

You must enable a StreetMap Premium extension before you can work with a mobile map package in ArcGIS Pro. StreetMap Premium extensions are available for Named User, Single Use, or Concurrent Use licenses. Upon purchase, an authorization code is available through My Esri to enable the StreetMap Premium extension. For Named Users, ArcGIS Pro requires an administrator of an organization to assign software licenses and extensions. Once you have been assigned a StreetMap Premium extension, you gain access to the StreetMap Premium data.

For more information on ArcGIS Pro licenses, see ArcGIS Pro license types.

Review license information in ArcGIS Pro

To verify you are licensed and provisioned for a StreetMap Premium extension, go to the Project tab in ArcGIS Pro and click Licensing to see the ArcGIS Pro Extensions list.

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro. For a Named User license, sign in using your organizational account that is licensed and provisioned with a StreetMap Premium extension.
  2. Click the Project tab.
  3. Click Licensing.

The StreetMap Premium extension for which you are licensed is listed under ArcGIS Pro Extensions.

    Note:

If a StreetMap Premium extension is not listed or is unavailable, your account is not licensed or provisioned, respectively, with the extension, and you will not be able to use a StreetMap Premium mobile map package. See Enable a StreetMap Premium extension above for information on how to have your ArcGIS Pro account licensed and provisioned with a StreetMap Premium extension.

Mobile map package details

Each mobile map package includes a vector tile package (.vtpk) from the Esri Navigation map on ArcGIS Online in the StreetMap Dark or StreetMap Day map for mapping and visualization that includes contributions from the GIS user community as well as fast display speeds. On the Map tab, use the Locate tool Locate to perform single-line geocoding. The StreetMap Premium locators in the mobile map package include points of interest (POIs) so you can search for places such as the White House or Starbucks. The Routing_ND network dataset is present in the table of contents and is ready to use for creating routes and service areas. See Geocoding and Routing below for more information.

Customize a mobile map package

A mobile map package must contain a mapping layer, locator, and network dataset to be recognized as a valid map package by the ArcGIS Navigator app. The mapping layers and locator can be tailored to your specific requirements. You may add your own layers to the map. You may also add your own locator to the mobile map package. The network dataset is not customizable. Neither a live traffic service nor another online mapping service can be packaged for mobile use. To create a subset of a larger mobile map package, use the Create Mobile Map Package tool to clip to a smaller study area.

Geocoding

See Geocode with StreetMap Premium locators in ArcGIS Pro for information on using StreetMap Premium geocoding functionality.

Routing

See Routing with StreetMap Premium in ArcGIS Pro for information on using StreetMap Premium routing functionality.
