The Terrain and Obstacle Profile element provides a view of the runway and approach surfaces, as well as any obstructions and terrain that protrude through them. The appearance of this element can vary based on your organization's requirements and the FAA or ICAO specifications used. To display the information properly, you first need to run the Generate OIS Profile Data and Generate OIS Obstacle Datatools on the obstruction identification surfaces (OIS) layer.

Align the map frame

The Terrain and Obstacle Profile element first requires a map frame in the layout that has a multipatch feature class containing the OIS features you want to profile. The source map or scene should be rotated so that the runway to be profiled is oriented horizontally in the layout and scaled to include the extent.

提示:

It is recommended that you do this before inserting the Terrain and Obstacle Profile element, but you can adjust it as needed from the Layout.

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro.
    注:

To add the Terrain and Obstacle Profile element to the Layout, ensure that you have already added a layout to your project.

  2. With the Layout active, right-click the source map frame in the Contents pane and click Activate.
  3. Click the Explore button 浏览工具 to set the scale and extent to be profiled.
  4. Right-click within the map frame bounds and click the Camera button 照相机 to view the camera properties.
    1. If the map frame references a map, set the Rotation value.
      Map frame Rotation field
      提示:

Rotation is zero for the east, and values are counter-clockwise.

    2. If the map frame references a scene, set the Heading value.
      Map frame Heading field
      注:

Ensure that the Pitch is set to -90 and the Roll is set to 0.

  5. Click the underlined Layout option to return to the Layout.

After the map frame has been set in the layout, you can navigate within the source map or scene without affecting its rotation or scale.

Add the element

The Terrain and Obstacle Profile element can now be added.

  1. Choose the Layout in the Contents pane containing the map frame that will be used with the Terrain and Obstacle Profile element.
  2. On the Insert tab, in the Map Surrounds group, click Additional Surrounds and click the Terrain and Obstacle Profile button Terrain 障碍剖面 in the Aviation section.
  3. Click and drag a box to define the location and extent of the Terrain and Obstacle Profile element. This is usually done to align the profile with the source map frame displaying the runway, obstacles, and OIS layer.

The Terrain and Obstacle Profile element is added to your layout.

提示:

You can add more than one Terrain and Obstacle Profile element to a layout.
