Share an Indoor Positioning Data Service

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.

An Indoor Positioning Data Service describes the locations of radio transmitters and their corresponding signal values in the indoor environment and associates specific sets of IPS Positioning Points and corresponding signal strengths at each location to facilitate real-time indoor positioning.

Note:

It is recommended that you verify the ArcGIS IPS coverage of the Indoor Positioning Dataset before sharing the Indoor Positioning Data Service.

To create and share an Indoor Positioning Dataset as an Indoor Positioning Data Service to the active portal, complete the following steps:

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Open an ArcGIS IPS map or prepare a new map in ArcGIS Pro.
  3. On the ribbon, click the Analysis tab and click Tools Tools.

    The Geoprocessing pane appears.

  4. In the Geoprocessing pane, click the Toolboxes tab.
  5. Expand the Indoor Positioning Tools toolbox and click Share Indoor Positioning Data Service.

The Share Indoor Positioning Data Service tool opens in the Geoprocessing pane.

  6. Click the IPS Positioning Datasets drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button Browse, and choose a feature class or a feature layer that contains the dataset you want to share.

The Dataset Name drop-down menu is populated with the names of the datasets available in the chosen feature class.

  7. Click the Dataset Name drop-down arrow and select the dataset that you want to share.
  8. Optionally, provide a different name for the Indoor Positioning Data Service in the Title text box.

The Title parameter is automatically populated with the dataset name by default.

  9. Optionally, provide values for the Summary and Tags parameters.
  10. Optionally, click the Folder drop-down arrow and choose a folder in your portal content to store the Indoor Positioning Data Service.

The service is stored at the root level of your portal content by default.

  11. Click the Sharing Level drop-down arrow and specify how the Indoor Positioning Data Service will be shared:
    • Everyone—Share your content with the public. Anyone can access and see it.
    • My Organization—Share your content with all authenticated users in the organization. This option is available when you are signed in with an organizational account.
    • Groups—Share your content with groups to which you belong and their members.

Leave all options unchecked to set the sharing level to the owner of the item.

  12. Click Run.

An Indoor Positioning Data Service is published to your ArcGIS organization and can be used to configure and share IPS-aware maps.
