Message: Layer is projected on the fly

This message is displayed on the Editing Status dialog box.

Cause

The spatial reference for this layer doesn't match the spatial reference assigned to the map. The data is projected on the fly to match the projection assigned to the map.

Solution

The best practice is to specify a coordinate system for the map or scene that matches the feature layer source data you are editing. If you need to reproject your source data instead, consider using the Project geoprocessing tool.
