Generate a survey-less Indoor Positioning Dataset

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.

To generate a survey-less Indoor Positioning Dataset, complete the following steps:

1. Start ArcGIS Pro.
2. Open an ArcGIS IPS map or prepare a new map in ArcGIS Pro.
3. On the ribbon, click the Analysis tab and click Tools .

   The Geoprocessing pane appears.

4. In the Geoprocessing pane, click the Toolboxes tab.
5. Expand Indoor Positioning Tools and click Generate Indoor Positioning Dataset.

   The Generate Indoor Positioning Dataset tool opens in the Geoprocessing pane.

6. Click the Target IPS Positioning Datasets drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button , and choose the IPS Positioning Datasets feature class.
7. Provide a unique name for the dataset in the Dataset Name text box.
8. Click the Generation Method drop-down arrow and click Survey-less.
9. Click the Level Features drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button , and choose the Levels feature class.
10. Click the IPS Beacon Features drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button , and choose the IPS Beacons feature class.

    Each level where you want to enable indoor positioning must contain four or more beacon features.

11. Click the IPS Area Features drop-down arrow, or click the Browse button, and choose a polygon feature class that represent the areas where you want to enable ArcGIS IPS.

    You can either select the Indoors Units feature class or manually create polygon features to define the areas.

    The feature class that you choose for the IPS Area Features parameter must have a LEVEL_ID text attribute. This attribute is used to identify the IPS area's associated level feature. Each level where you want to enable indoor positioning must have at least one associated IPS area.

12. Click the Wall Features drop-down arrow, or click Browse , and choose the feature class that contains the polygon features that represent the footprint of walls within and around the areas where you want to enable ArcGIS IPS.

    Each level must contain at least one wall to enable indoor positioning.

13. Click Run.

The tool uses the relationship classes to generate IPS Positioning Points and IPS Positioning Signals related to the Target IPS Positioning Datasets feature class and populates them with positioning data.
